Johan Soderberg
Synopsis:
The Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) movement demonstrates how labour can self-organise production, and, as is shown by the free operating system GNU/Linux, even compete with some of the worlds largest firms. The book examines the hopes of such thinkers as Friedrich Schiller, Karl Marx, Herbert Marcuse and Antonio Negri, in the light of the recent achievements of the hacker movement. This book is the first to examine a different kind of political activism that consists in the development of technology from below.

"Tax the Rich", worst slogan ever

I really don’t understand why some leftists have this bizarre attachment to bourgeois legalism, embodied in the slogan “tax the rich.” Why are we, ourselves, demanding that a capitalist state extract more money from the capitalist class, which could only help preserve the illusion of ‘fairness’ in the capitalist system? It is a slogan whose underlying ideology envisions a paternalistic welfare state emerging from within our current system, a state where the revolutionary energy of the masses is subordinated to the cautious constitutionalism of the reformist left in full collaboration with imperialism and anti-people elements.

Expropriate the rich. Fuck the Constitution. Death to US imperialism. Long live the revolutionary struggle.
